Alma was born on the family farm in Allegheny Twp. not in the town of Loretto. However findagrave data base only allows the entry of a town and not the Township.

Des met Alma at a dance and courted her by horse and buggy. Leo Klein said when he first met Alma he thought she was the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. Des and Alma were married in Cumberland, MD on 13 January 1915. Witnesses were Andy and Catherine Flick.

Alma crocheted beautiful doilies and would rush through her housework so she could sit down and crochet. She was also a wonderful cook with special recipes she had learned as a girl in PA.
