Stroke Proves Fatal to Mrs. Barbara Murphy
"Mrs. Barbara Murphy, 65, wife of W. L. Murphy died at 1 o'clock yesterday afternoon at her home three miles northwest of Dewey. She had been stricken with a paralytic stroke at night while asleep and never regained consciousness. She is survived by her husband, three sons and four daughters. The sons, Clyde, Staley [sic] and Bryan are all at the home. The daughters are Mrs. C. V. Geary of Dewey, Mrs. A. B. Nuttall of Thrifty, Texas, Mrs. J. O. Parson [sic] of Dennis, Kan,, and Mrs. F. M. Frease of Lakin, Kan., all seven sons and daughters are to attend the funeral which will be held later in the week at the Burt Funeral Home. On son, Lyman Murphy died at Camp Greenleaf during the World war service and was one of the first of the soldier dead to be brought back to the county."

Death of Mrs. Murphy
"Mrs. Barbara Murphy, wife of W. L. Murphy died Sunday night at her home three miles northwest of Dewey. Mrs. Murphy was apparently in good health when she retired Saturday night but was stricken during the night when she went into a coma from which she did not regain consciousness. Funeral arrangements will not be announced until the arrival of the daughters of the deceased, who are driving through. If the family arrives the funeral will be held Wednesday afternoon from the Burt Funeral Home. The deceased is survived by her husband, W. L. Murphy, three sons and four daughters. One other son was killed during the World war. The sons are Clyde, Staley [sic]and Bryan. The daughters, Mrs. Geary of Dewey, Mrs. J. O. Parsons {sic] of Dennis, Kan., and Mrs. Nuttall of Thrifty, Texas, and Mrs. F. M. Frease of Lakin, Kan. The daughters were all here a few weeks ago when their father was critically ill for several weeks."

Roadster Is Stolen
"A 1927 Ford roadster belonging to C. F. Bretcher of Abline [sic], Kan., was stolen from Third street and Keeler avenue about 9 o'clock Monday night. The car carried a New Mexico state license. A suitcase containing men's clothes was taken with the automobile. Bretcher was here to attend the funeral of his sister, Mrs. Barbara Murphy of Dewey."
