Felkins was born January 23, 1915 in Russellville, Ark. to Frank Felkins and Annis Felkins. He married Era Mae Peterson on August 7, 1938 in Milfay, Okla. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2005. He is a graduate of Oklahoma State University. A Veteran of World War II, he served in the US Navy in both the Pacific and the European Theaters. He retired from the Naval Reserves as a Lt. Commander.
Felkins was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one daughter, Patricia Felkins Johnson; one grandson, Kevin Johnson; two brothers, Bill Felkins and Verlis Felkins; and one sister, Anna,Belle Felkins.
He is survived by two daughters, Shirley Schooley and her husband Neal of Birmingham, Ala. and Barbara Henry and her husband Bill of Oklahoma City, Okla.; six grandchildren, David Schooley of Chicago, Ill., Alan Schooley of Farmington, N.M., Angela Schooley Washington of Sumiton, Ala., Scott Muncaster of Tucson, Ariz., Steve Johnson of Houston, Texas, and Gary Johnson of Houston, Texas; eight great grandchildren, Chris Johnson and Thomas Johnson of Austin, Texas, Autumn Johnson and Nathan Johnson of Houston, Texas, Lauren Schooley and Mark Schooley of Farmington, N.M., and Joshua Washington and Grace Washington of Sumiton, Ala.; two brothers, James Felkins of Scottsbluff, Neb. and Glynn Felkins of Kimball, Neb.; seven sisters, Nova Bailey of Roseburg, Ore., Esther Walker of Castle Rock, Colo., Evelyn Foster of Kimball, Neb., Lola Huston of Elizabeth, Colo., Angela Refior of Kimball, Neb., Thelma Cole of Commerce City, Colo., and Martha Link of Russellville, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
