Mr. Cockrum was born Oct. 2, 1931, in Custer, Ark., the son of Peter and Evelyn (Gillaspie) Cockrum. He married Helen Joanne (Messick) on Nov. 26, 1951, in Harrison, Ark.; she survives of the home. He worked for Armco Steel for 30 years before retiring in 1985. He was a Jehovah's Witness.
He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers; and three grandsons, Mitchell White, Byron David White and John Folsom.
In addition to his wife, Joanne, survivors include one son, Troy Cockrum, Rayville; three daughters, Sandra Folsom and Debbie Rico, both of Excelsior Springs, and Sherry White, Mountain Home, Ark.; two brothers, Don Cockrum, Cotter, Ark., and Frank Cockrum, of Mountain Home, Ark.; three sisters, Maxine Cox, Wichita, Kan., Nadine Griffin, Warsaw, and Bonnie Conner, Mountain Home, Ark.; 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
There are no services planned at this time. Cremation. Arrangements are through Polley Funeral Home in Excelsior Springs.
