John King, Revolutionary War Soldier enlisted as a private in the US Army Mar 1782,(pension papers file #W12021) serving as a fife and drummer attached to the company of Capt. John Mills of the 1st Regiment of MA line, commanded by Col. Joseph Vose in Brigadier General Patterson's Brigade in Major General Howe's Division. That summer, he proceeded with the army to Planks Point and was there inspected by General George Washington. He was honorably discharged after peace was proclaimed in 1783, serving one year and seven months of his youth to the service of his country.

John's 1st wife was Sarah Hawkins,b.7 May 1764, Milford, Litchfield, Connecticut, daughter of Robert and Rachael Buck Baldwin Hawkins. She died 20 Mar 1830, Ft. Edward, Washington, New York. His second marriage was to Sarah Bovee 26 Jun 1831, Argyle, New York.
John celebrated his 90th birthday on April 25, 1855. He passed away on the 2nd day of Nov 1855 at Dresden Station, in upper New York state, where he had been temporarily staying with his daughter, Lydia King Chubb. He was buried near there in the Clemons Cemetery. This death date is verified in a pension application by his 2nd wife, Sarah Bovee King.
