Carl Alfred Swedlund, 85, Bowmont, passed away unexpectedly at his home Thursday. Mr. Swedlund was born Aug. 15, 1885, at Upland, Neb., and was reared in Nebraska. He attended mechanical school in Chicago, came to Melba in 1917 and later lived at Caldwell. He was married to Hazel Gurwell at Caldwell on Nov. 19, 1919. They moved to their parents home in Bowmont in March of 1920, Mr. Swedlund was very active in farming in the area, in addition to operating a garage and machine shop at Bowmont since 1920. Mr. Swedlund was a member of Melba Lodge No. 150, I.O.O.F. a chapter member of the Silver City and the Idaho City I.O.O.F. He and Mrs. Swedlund celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary last year.

He is survived by his wife, Bowmont; two daughters, Mrs. Earl (Marie) Young, Bowmont, and Mrs. Harold (Lavera) Basey, Ft. Greely, Alaska; two brothers, Arthur Swedlund, Minden, Neb., and Tilford Swedlund, Hastings, Neb.; thee sisters, Mrs. Gerda Anderson and Mrs. Lillie Moats, both of Hastings, Neb., and Mrs. Olga Samuelson, Hastings; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
