Lorene G. Haynes, 91, went home to be with the Lord June 7, 2006. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a faithful Christian and member of Grace Memorial Baptist Church. For many years she was a homemaker and Avon Salesperson. She was born and lived most of her life near Anniston, Ala., but in her later years moved to live with son, Gary Haynes and wife, Paula, of Saltillo, Miss.

She is survived also by one daughter, Barbara Hale and husband, Edwin, of Lincoln; one sister Helen Hewett and husband, Bunk, of Oxford, Ala.; five grandchildren, Amanda Glodfelty, of Wichita, Kansas, Edwin "Chip" Hale, Jr., and wife, Claire, of Lagrange, Ga., Justin, Jeremy, and Karissa Haynes, all of Saltillo, Miss.; and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Miller Funeral Home in Oxford, Ala., with the Rev. Kerry Nelson, of Tupelo officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service time at Miller Funeral Home. Burial will be in Plum Springs Cemetery. W.E. Pegues Funeral Directors is in charge of Tupelo arrangements.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Wilmer F. Haynes; one son, Thomas; one daughter, Edna; two brothers, Thomas and Johnny Gaines; three sisters, Jessie Gaines, Stella Howell, and Annie Belle Prater; and her parents Thomas and Belle M. Turner Gaines.

Pallbearers will be Justin Haynes, Jeremy Haynes, Allen Hewett, Edwin Hale, Chip Hale, Randy Clayburn, Donald Gaines and Wayne Gaines.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Grace Memorial Youth Camp Fund at 3035 Hwy. 178 East, Tupelo, MS 38804.
