Rosalyn was the first-born of Adam and Mary (Siller) Senn. Her younger siblings wre three brothers and one sister. After graduating from St. Mary's High School in Richardton, North Dakota she entered St. Alexis School of Nursing at Bismarck, ND. She graduated as a Registered Nurse and worked at Richardton until her marriage to Lynn Rixen on June 10, 1952. They farmed the Rixen farm south of Richardton, and raised ten children. Rosalyn did some special nursing until her death, due mainly to cancer, at age fifty-three.
