Longtime local resident Lee R. Kell, 58, of Kelso died Feb. 8, 2001, at St. John Medical Center.

He was born April 19, 1942, in Rabun, Ga., to Grandville and Emily (Chadwick) Kell and moved to the local area 47 years ago, coming from North Carolina.

Mr. Kell was a professional wrestler in the Northwest until his retirement in 1984. he wrestled under many names including "The Claw" and "The Executioner." He enjoyed watching wrestling on television, collecting model cars, Sunday drives, country music and anything pertaining to history. He was very active in his grandchildren's lives and enjoyed spending time with family.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Kell at home; a son, Jerry Lingle of Longview; five daughters, Teresa Williams and Robin Lingle, both of Kelso; Tina Gross and Debbie Hintsala, both of Longview and Teresa Vegele of Toutle; three brothers, Norman Kell, Phillip Kell and Virgil Kell, all of Silver Lake; five sisters, Linda Gonzales of Centralia, Maryetta Grisham of Castle Rock, Lilly May Wood and Mozle Miller, both of Longview, and Allie Stilles in South Carolina; 12 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at Central Christian Church with Roger Scharen officiating.
