PILOT MOUND

Mrs. Charley Anderson died Wednesday night of last week after a long illness. She was interred in the Linn [Lawn] cemetery.

Swedish church archives show that Anna Brita Maja Jonsdotter was born on Sept. 20, 1831 at Lofta, Kalmar, Sweden, the daughter of Jons Carlsson and Maja Jonsdotter. On June 20, 1860 she had a daughter Augusta Carolina Karlsson. On Sept. 21, 1867 she married Carl (Charles) Axel Theodor Anderson and they became the parents of four children:

Gustava Eugenia "Jennie" (Anderson) Sholander (1867-1948)
Emma Christina Anderson (1871- )
Charles Oscar Anderson (1871-1956)
Alma Amalia (Anderson) Bartlett (1873-1949)

The family departed Gladhammar, Kalmar, Sweden on May 9, 1881 enroute to North America. They first settled in Chicago, joining the First Gethsemane Lutheran Church on January 1, 1882. From there they moved to West Dayton, Iowa on Sept. 29, 1882. They resided in Pilot Mound Township, Boone County, Iowa until her death on Oct. 5, 1892. Her husband remarried on Feb. 11, 1893 to Maria Kristina Dahlstrom and they lived in the Madrid vicinity where her husband died on April 5, 1925.
