Wife of Stepan Artzerounian of Sivas, Turkey. They had 15 children including two sets of twins, however the names of only six children are known. Many were killed in the Armenian Genocide of 1915. The names who are known mostly came to the U.S. as she did. The known names are Armenag (lived in Benghazi, Libya) and the ones who lived in Philadelphia: David (Tavit), Vahagun, Oscar (Osgan), Avedis, and Vartanoush. Her husband Stepan died in Turkey, probably of cholera. She is buried with David but her name is not on the stone. Her age at death was given as 101 (born about 1843) but it was just an estimate. In fact she was certainly younger than that because it means she would have been 53 at the birth of her daughter. It is unknown when her first child was born, but based on the fact it is known she had a child in 1876 and the youngest known was born 1896, she was born no earlier than 1850 and no later than 1862.
