Funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 1:30 p. m, in the Logan First L. D. S. ward chapel for ,Mrs, Ellen Ricks Nibley, 78, widely known L. D. S. church worker and widow of Charles W. Nibley, who died at 454 East South Temple street Friday at 6 p.m. of infirmities incident to age. Bishop William Worley will preside.
Mrs. Nibley was president of the first Young Ladies' Mutual Improvement association to be formed in Cache stake in 1875, and had been active in temple ordinance work for almost 40 years after opening of the Logan L. D. S. temple.
At the time of Mr. Nibley's death in December, 1931, he was second counselor in the first presidency of the L. D. S. church.
A daughter of Joel arid Sarah B Ricks. Mrs. Nibley was born in Farmington, Davis county, March 30, 1856. At the age of 4 she moved with her parents to Cache valley. The family was among the first residents to settle on the present site of Logan.
She remained in Logan until 1926,and, as a girl, attended the public schools there. When she was 18 she became an operator for the old Deseret Telegraph company. She and Mr. Nibley were married March 30, 1880.
Mrs. Nibley, while residing in Cache county, was president of the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers when that organization was started there.
Surviving are five sons and daughters: Joel Nibley, Preston Nibley, Mrs.George M. Cannon Jr. and Mrs Eastman Hatch, Salt Lake City, and Nathan Nibley, Los Angeles; a brother, Joel Ricks, Logan, and a sister, Mrs, Esther Wilson, Salt Lake City.
Friends may call at the home of Mrs. Cannon, 427 First avenue, Salt Lake City, Saturday. Burial will take place in the Logan City cemetery.
