Mrs. Alta Alford, 87, died Friday at 11:45 a.m. at the Huntington County Hospital where she had been admitted on Monday, according to reports, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Alice L. Scher, 36 N. Lafontaine St., where she had resided.

Mrs. Alford was born 28 January 1881 in Aurora, Illinois to Lee and Mary Ann Harrington, and her marriage was to Joseph Alford, who died 1 March 1946.

Survivors in addition to Mrs. Scher, are two sons, Willard L., Chicago, and Russell T., Rt. 1 Andrews; eight grandchildren, two step-grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a brother, Will, Monticello, and another sister, Mrs. Oscar Anderson, Hartford City. One grandchild, two brothers and two sisters are deceased.

Mrs. Alford was a member of the First Methodist Church.

Friends may call at the Bailey Funeral Home Saturday after 2 p.m. Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the mortuary, with Dr. Orrin Manifold officiating.

Burial will be in the Riverside Cemetery at Andrews.
