Former Resident Of Cowden Dies In California
Funeral services for Paul Adam Vance, brother of Mrs. Cora Stratton and Bill Vance of Carnegie, were held Wednesday at Escondido, Calif. He died Sunday after a long illness.
A former resident of the Cowden community, Vance had made his home in California since 1923. He had been a foreman for the Escondido Lemon association at Escondido for several years, but before his illness he worked as a paint contractor. He had been ill with cancer about two years.
He was born at Alvorado, Texas, in 1906, and moved with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Ben Vance, to Oklahoma as a small boy. The family moved to the Cowden community in 1912.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Leon of Escondido, and Bennie, who is with the Air Force in Italy; six grandchildren; four sisters, Mrs. Cora Stratton, Carnegie, Mrs. Morgan Willis, Mrs. Lucy Rail and Mrs. Sallie Barber of Escondido; three brothers, Bill Vance Carnegie, Boyd of Huntington Park, Calif. and Bob of El Cajon, Calif.
