Former Resident Of Cowden Dies
Relatives here received word Friday of the death of Mrs. Gussie Wolford of Whittier, California. Funeral services were held Monday at Whittier.
Mrs. Wolford, a former resident of the Cowden community, spent six weeks here last years visiting in the home of her sister, Mrs. W.F. Stratton and her brother, J.W. Vance in Carnegie.
Mrs. Wolford was born at Alvarado, Texas, in July, 1894, and died November 18, 1955, at the age of 61 years.
She, with her parents, came to Oklahoma in 1913 and settled near Cowden. The past several years had been spent in California.
She had been ill for some time and was in a hospital at Whittier, California at the time of death. She was a member of the Presbyterian church.
Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Betty Bader, Whittier, and Mrs. Rebecca Duncan, Delhi, Calif.; one son, Rev. Duard Lowrey, New York; five sisters; Mrs. Stratton, Carnegie; Mrs. Sally Barber, Visalia, Calif.; Mrs. Elizabeth Smith, Escondido, Calif.; Mrs. Lucy Rail, Vista, Calif.; and Mrs. Morgan Willis, San Marcos, Calif.; four brothers, Bill Vance, Carnegie; Boyd Vance, Huntington Park, Calif.; and Paul and Bob Vance of Escondido; and 10 grandchildren.

MRS. GUSSIE WOLFORD of Anaheim is visiting her sisters, Mrs. William F. Smith and Mrs. Sterman Willis, in Escondido and another sister, Mrs. John Rail in Vista for the week. She will return to her home Friday.
