John Anderson was born at Konnigsberg, Norway on April 18, 1868. At the age of 18 he left Norway and came to the United States, locating at Fargo, ND. At the age of 21, he was married to Miss Maggie Johnson at Fargo. In 1906, he came to Powers Lake with his family and settled on a homestead ten miles northeast of this city, where they lived four years. Then they moved to Powers Lake and Mr. Anderson opened a meat market which he operated until a short time before his death. Mrs. Anderson died about two years ago. Of there union six children were born, four girls and two boys; three of the girls up and died.
On January 31, 1940 at 4 P.M. Mr. Anderson was enjoying his afternoon lunch when he suddenly just tipped over and passed away. Funeral services were held at the home on February 3rd at 1:30 P.M. and at the Baptist Church at 2 P.M. with burial in the Baptist Cemetery. He leaves to mourn his departure Julius Anderson and family, John Anderson and family, Mrs. C. K. Daily of Fargo, ND and seven grandchildren.
The pallbearers were: Ole Garness A. H. Lundquist, Martin Sellie, Nels Enget, John Enger and Maurice Monson.
