John Carstensen
Services were held Feb. 22 for John Carstensen, 71, at the Wyoming Methodist Church, with burial at the Wyoming
Cemetery. The Rev. Mike Reeves officiated at the services.
Mr. Carstensen, Stanwood, died Feb. 20 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids. He was born Oct. 7,1912, near Wyoming, the son of August and Catherine Petersen Carstensen. He attended the Wyoming school, and Dec. 21, 1942, he married Aldenia Pierce in Maquoketa.
Mr. Carstensen worked seven years for the State Highway Commission and then farmed near Wyoming from 1950-63. In 1963 the couple moved to the Clarence area where they farmed until 1975, when he retired. He was a member of the Clarence Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Karen Rouse of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Judy Fiola, also of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; one brother, Herman Carstensen of Wyoming; four sisters; Mrs. Emma Paulsen, Mrs. Herta Bahnsen, Mrs. Dora Dusanek, all of Wyoming, and Mrs. Minna Thomsen of Olin. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
Casketbearers were Donald Carstensen, Dennis Carstensen, Thomas Paulsen, Richard Bahnsen, Paul Thomsen and Gordon Thomsen.
