Funeral services for James B. Brewer, 79 years of age, were held Sunday, April 13 at 2:00 p.m. at the Bethel Baptist Church in Larue County, with Rev. Charlie Warren in charge of the services, assisted by Rev. J. L. Bradshaw. Burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Robert Grimes, Coy Morris, Everitt Sprowles, Carl Hash, Sammie Sprowles, and Johnny Shofner. The flower girls were Misses Nancy Morris, Jean Skaggs, Virginia Underwood, and Dorothy Brewer. Brewer was born in Larue County, July 7, 1872 and died at his home near Attilla in Larue County, Thursday, April 10 at 10:20 p.m. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Otter Creek Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Nannie Gravette 60 years ago. Besides wife, he is survived by one son and one daughter, Barney Brewer and Mrs. Bessie Shofner, both of Larue County. He is also survived by two brothers, George Brewer, of Larue County and Alex Brewer, of Louisville; four half-brothers and two half-sisters: Andy Brewer, of Taylor County, Walter Brewer, Harvey Brewer and Beckham Brewer, all of Jefferson County, Miss Liza Brewer and Mrs. Julia Allen, both of Taylor County.
