Herbert was the son of Alfred & Annie (Willett) Nickerson. He served in Action overseas as a Pvt. during WWI & recieved a purple heart, his brother Alfie was killed in action in Oct. 1918. He married the former Mable Johnston in 1919 and they had 1 daughter. Herbert owned & operated a gas station on center street in Lewiston for a number of years, was a carpenter and built his own home in Lewiston and a cottage in Canada.
