Calumet County’s first highway fatality of the years was recorded Monday when Luke Nadler, 15 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Anton Nadler, town of Stockbridge died of injuries received when the car he and four companions were riding in overturned at the intersection of two town of Brothertown roads about two miles directly south of Jericho.
The five youths were returning from a dance at Brothertown. The accident occurred as young Hiemermann attempted to turn north onto the road leading into Jericho. The car narrowly missed a mail box, landing in the ditch and tipped over. It had been traveling east from the direction of Highway 55 before the attempted turn.
Pinned in Door
Nadler’s whole head was pinned in the door of the car as it tipped over, received a skull fracture. The door either flow open as the car rounded the turn or the youth opened it in an attempt to escape, it was believed by Sheriff Gerhard B. Jensen after questioning the other youths Monday morning.
Nadler was still alive when they youths managed to free him from beneath the vehicle, it was learned at the questioning here. He was rushed to Mt. Calvary to a doctor by Michael Schoenborn, a farmer residing near the scene of the mishap, but passed away before the village was reached.
The victim has gone to the dance with an older brother but had decided to ride home with Heimermann.
