WILLIAM PICKRELL PASSES AWAY AT HIS HOME WEST OF THE CITY
Requests that no Funeral Sermon be Preached
Willam Pickerell an aged and esteemed resident and one of the early settlers of Wapello county, died at 9:30 o'clock yesterday morning at his home three miles west of the city. The funeral will be conducted Friday and in accordance with a request made by Mr. Pickerell before his death, there will be no funeral sermon and no hearse will be used.
Mr. Pickerell was 72 years of age, and had been a resident of Wapello county for many years. He was highly esteemed by a host of friends. His death resulted from dropsy. The funeral will be conducted from the residence Friday morning at 10 o'clock. Interment will be made in the Shaul cemetery.

William's first wife Phebe Dennis Pickrell is buried in Round Point Cemetery in Wapello County.
His 2nd wife Amanda Jane Gilman Pickrell is buried in Brooks Cemetery, 9 miles west of Ottumwa. He instructed that since he could not be buried next to either, he wanted to be buried in Shaul Cemetery in Ottumwa.
