Mrs. Helen Katherine Yarbrough Schaub, 84, longtime resident of 4720-A Shattalon Drive, Winston-Salem died Tuesday morning at Northern Hospital Surry County. She was born Jan. 30, 1916, in Winston-Salem to Alonzo Francis Yarbrough and Sally Kreggar Yarbrough. Mrs. Schaub had worked as a practical nurse in several local hospitals, including Forsyth Medical Center. She had been a member of Cedar Forest Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carleton Otis Schaub; three sisters, Mrs. Clyde (Lucille) Perrymon, Mrs. A.D. (Pearl) Patterson and Mrs. Enos (Becky) Winfrey; and two brothers, Mr. Ralph Yarbrough and Mr. Austin Yarbrough. Surviving are a son, David Douglas Schaub and his wife, Georgia of Dobson; her daughter, Carol Schaub of Butner; two grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. John Ormond; and a brother, Mr. Richard Yarbrough. A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at New Hope United Methodist Cemetery with the Rev. William C. Currie officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Vogler and Sons Reynolda Road Chapel is serving the Schaub family.
