He did not serve in the Revolutionary War. There is a newspaper article with misinformation saying he came to America as a British soldier. This is incorrect. His family arrived in about 1794 when then Rev. War was over (1783) and he was born in 1774 which makes him 2 years old when the Rev. War started.

Francis does not have a headstone anymore but he is buried somewhere near his family - son James Simpson Law Find a Grave memorial #32398225

His brother Thomas is buried in WV - Memorial # 95645456

His parents names are unknown. His mother died on crossing the Atlantic and was buried at sea. They arrived in America about 1794. The Revolutionary War ended in 1783. He married Catharine Simpson in 1800 in West Virginia. A grandson of William Law (his brother) says the parents names were John and Jane.

The first grave in Elk Creek Cemetery (O.S. Baptist Church) was in the year 1800, for a boy six years old, named Millener. His given name is not known, as many of the first head-stones were common lime-stone, and the cold Winters and wet weather has caused them to scale off so that the inscriptions can not be made out.
