He was the son of Floyd James and Stella Elvira (Carmichael) Barrick. He attended Southwestern State College and the University of Oklahoma. He married Doris Beth Day on April 6, 1950 in Gould, OK. Roy was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he was one of the oganizers of the bus ministry. He was a member of the Lawton-Great Plains Ambucs chapter where he served as the treasurer for 10 years. He was in the insurance business for many years.
Survivors include his wife, of the home; two daughters and a son-in-law, Jan Barrick-Plant and Jerry Plant of Oklahoma City and LaPaula Boone of Lawton; three grandchildren, Jeff and Jenny Boone, both of Lawton, and Wade Boone, USMC, Iraq; a sister and brother-in-law, Fern and Doyle Conley of Clinton; a sister-in-law Esther Oland of Oklahoma City; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents and a sister, Opal Hayes, preceded him in death.
