Stephen Glen May (who was always known by his middle name Glen) was born in Utah, but raised in the Beazer, Alberta, Canada area.

One of Glen's great finds was coal on the Canadian May property. Glen came home with some samples in his pockets one day! The mines on their property would go on to fuel the local power house, Mormon temple and many other businesses and residences in the region.

He married Edna Maughan Haslam on May 22, 1928 in Logan, Cache County, Utah in the Mormon temple.

Glen was a quiet, hard working man and a jack of many trades at his business, Glen May and Sons, in Baker, Oregon. In addition to Schwinn Bicycles, he sold and or repaired such things as motorcycles, lawn and garden equipment, clothes washers and dryers and was often the only reliable town locksmith over decades in business (see brother Andrews bio on Glen's start in the bike business and the "May Brothers" evolution).

A fantastic fly fisherman, one of his favorite places was East Eagle Creek in the southern Wallowa Mountains northeast out of Baker. Often times, while others in his party were just getting their lines wet, he would display several nice "Brookies" to them, with a huge smile and twinkling eyes. Then he'd be off for more, before they could pick their jaws up off of the ground. A bit longer into the day he would ask how his fellow fishermen were doing. He would often respond by telling them not to catch too many as he already had part of their limits too! Did I mention that Cardston is just northeast of Montana?

Many of the bicycles that went through his store were anonymously gifted to children who would never have had one otherwise.

He wrote an autobiography after his retirement. He was a great example and help to me throughout his life.
