Naomi Chandler

     WEISER — Services for Naomi May Chandler, 72, of Weiser, who died Tuesday at her home, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Weiser Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Bishop Ruion Zaugg. Burial will follow at Hillcrest.

     Friends may visit from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday at the Northam-Jones Chapel.

     Mrs. Chandler was born Sept. 11, 1901, of Beazer, Alta., the daughter of Frank and Emma Wight May. She came with her family to Weiser from British Columbia in 1919. She was married to Vernon Chandler March 7, 1923, at the Salt Lake City LDS Temple.

     In April 1924, the couple bought a farm across from Weiser in Oregon. Then in 1934 they moved to a ranch on Monroe Creek. She worked in the school hot lunch program, the PTA and worked at the local hospital for several years.

     She was an active member of the LDS Church, holding many positions including Ward Relief Society president, Stake Relief Society President and teaching positions.

     The Chandlers celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary March 7, 1973.

     Survivors are her husband, Weiser; three sons, Frank, Laurie and Eldon, all of Weiser; two daughters, Mrs. Bob (Thelma) Nieland, Weiser, and Mrs. Richard (Jean) Gowens, Portland; a brother, Glen May, Baker, Ore.; 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

     She was preceded in death by a son, a sister, four brothers and a granddaughter.
