John Julius Boelter was born in Holden Township in Goodhue County, MN.

John Julius is my paternal grandmother's father. I only know a few things about him. For one thing, for a few years he was an ordained minister and attended seminary in Naperville, IL.

FYI: Here is a bit of information about some denominational changes.

"In 1946, the Evangelical Church merged with the United Brethren in Christ at a meeting in Johnstown, PA to form the Evangelical United Brethren Church. This body, in turn, united with the Methodist Church (US) in 1968 to form the United Methodist Church."

The Garrett–Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, IL was a merger of Garrett based in Evanston and Evangelical Theological Seminary which was in Naperville, IL. I would assume if I contacted them, they may know exactly when John was there and perhaps more information about him. Garrett's website states the following about the closed Naperville campus:

"Evangelical Theological Seminary, located in Naperville and founded as a seminary of the Evangelical Church (later the Evangelical United Brethren) in 1873, joined with Garrett Theological Seminary in 1974 to form Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary."

John Julius died in 1938. Between the info from the seminary website and the wiki on United Methodist mergers, I believe that my great grandfather was a member of the Evangelical Church. He died approximately 8 years before his church merged with the United Brethren in Christ to form the Evangelical United Brethren Church, and died 30 years before it in turned merged with the Methodist to form today's United Methodist Church.

Note: Please refer to his wife's memorial for information on their census data as well as information about all their children.
