William Preston Bowman, 79, died in his home at Foresman at 2:00 o'clock, Thursday afternoon. He had been in failing health for about a year. He was born in Virginia but had lived in the Foresman community for fifteen years. He was married to Mary Elizabeth Thomas and was a member of the Baptist Church.

He was employed as caretaker in the Brook school for several years.

Surviving with the wife are two sons, Roy of Everett, Washington and William Scott Bowman of Mt. Airy, N. Carolina; two daughters, Mrs. Essa Hiatt and Mrs. Frances Clifton of Mt. Airy, N. Caroline; a sister, Mrs. Nora Jennings of Austinville, Va. and a brother James of Framville, Va.; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

The body was taken to Crane Funeral Home where friends called. A funeral service was held by the Rev. Garfield Judkins of Goodland Baptist Church at 10 O'clock Saturday morning and the remains were taken to Jones Funeral Home in Mt. Airy, NC for funeral services. Burial was in Gladesboro, VA at the Gladesboro Lutheran Church cemetery on April 1, 1963. Funeral was conducted by Rev. Joe Bowman.

GrandPa Bowman was initially married in VA to Geneva Bethel Young in Patrick County, VA She died early at age 46 due to medical issues.......
