Uncle Otis , also known as Uncle Roy, was born in Carroll County, VA. He called himself "Mountain Man." as he loved to hunt in the mountains of WA state. His great, great Uncle was Kit Carson II. Uncle Otis married Elma Jane Ayers of Patrick County, VA. They were married just shy of 55 years. Aunt Elma was the love of his life. She was a school teacher, died in 1988, and is buried in Ararat, VA. at Hunters Chapel Church Cemetery They adopted a baby boy, David Roy Bowman, born in 1953, and married to Anita Kay Blackburn of Mt. Airy, NC
