Deborah was born around 1784, according to her age on her headstone. Her age in the 1850 Huron, Wayne Co., NY census has her born around 1783.

Her marker says that she was the wife of C. Murphey. That was Christopher Murphy/Murphey. There was a general inconsistency with the spelling of "Murphey" in those days. They were living in Seneca Co., NY, probably Covert or Lodi, when Christopher died 6 June 1826, according to the Seneca Co., NY Historian. He suggested that a search of the old church records might indicate where Christopher was buried.

Christopher Murphy was in the 1810 census for Ovid, Seneca County, NY, then in the 1820 census for Covert, Seneca County, NY. After Christopher died in 1826, Deborah Murphy was in the 1830 census for Lodi, Seneca Co., NY. The 1810 census had an Abraham Miller listed near Christopher Murphy. The 1820 census had Abraham J. Miller and Gilbert Townsend listed by Christopher Murphy. I looked at the tree for Abraham Miller to see if I could find a link to either Christopher or Deborah, but I didn't find anything. According to Wikipedia, "In 1823. a portion of Seneca Co. was combined with a portion of Ontario Co. to create Wayne Co." Did Deborah and family move to Wayne Co. from Ontario Co. or did the county line move?

Then when you see the widow Deborah Murphy in the 1830 Lodi, Seneca Co., NY census, she was listed next to Gilbert Townsend and near Abraham I. Miller. By 1840, Deborah had moved to Huron, Wayne Co., NY. In the 1850 census for Huron, Wayne Co., NY, Deborah Murphy 67 NY is listed as living with her son Sebert "Sebe" Murphy 25 NY, his wife Jane Murphy 19 NY, and their daughter Madora Murphy 1 NY, in addition to a Lucy Wandell 7 NY. Who was Lucy Wandell?

Deborah had a hand written will for herself that's on file in Wayne Co., NY. It mentions her children: Levi Murphy, Emily Westfall, Amanda Belknapp, Miranda Coates, Elmyra Reynolds, and Cebe (Sebe?) Murphy, as well as Lucy Wandell, who may have been a granddaughter. In the will, Deborah left the mahogany trunk that had belonged to Christopher Murphy to their son Cebe, who was Sebert "Seba" Murphy.

In the 1820 census, Deborah and her husband Christopher, with children, were living in Covert, Seneca Co., NY. Deborah handled the estate settlement when Christopher passed away on 6 June 1826 in Seneca Co., NY.
I haven't been able to determine where Christopher was buried. Deborah may be buried near a grandson named Christopher Murphy, who's in the same cemetery as her. He was a young son of Levi Murphy.
