WALTER CARL CHRISTENSEN was the fifth child of seven children born to Lars Christian Christensen and Louise Lisette Dorthea Augusta Walther, Danish immigrants. He was born Nov. 25, 1898 in Parker, Turner County, SD; He died Oct. 3, 1956 in Tulsa, OK of cardiac failure. He was in Tulsa attending a convention concerning state fairs; His funeral was held at the Nazareth Lutheran Church in Kenmare. He was buried Oct. 8, 1956 in Lakeview Cemetery, Kenmare, ND

On October 13, 1921, in Kenmare, ND he married Marie Albertina Davick b. Woonsocket, SD Nov. 5, 1893 daughter of Peter Davick and Cristiana Leffdahl, immigrants from Norway.

Walter was a farmer and homesteaded in Baden Township near Kenmare, ND. He graduated from the Danish High School for boys near Kenmare, ND. His mother, Louise, needed him to farm his parents homestead after Lars died.

Walter was active in state and local politics. He was a county commissioner. Part of his job was to serve on the North Dakota State Fair Board. During his leisure time, he loved to play cards Pinochle, Wisk, Bridge and Poker.

He also served on the Soil Conservation District Board of Supervisors. Both Walter and Marie were active in the country Nazareth Lutheran Church, Kenmare, ND and the Danish Church. Walt would leave an hour before church services to start the fire at the Our Savior's Lutheran Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lars and Louise (Walther) Christensen, and is survived by his wife, and four children plus several grandchildren. Listed here are his children.
