Elvira passed away at the Española Hospital. She was survived by 3 daughters: Mary Chavez of La Villita, Peggy Sanchez and Rose Garcia of Albuquerque; 4 sons: Joe of Abiquiu, Delfin, Teofilo, and Johnny of La Villita; 2 sisters: Cleo Martinez and Virginia Pacheco of Denver, Colorado; brothers Amadeo Martinez of Colorado Springs and Tranquilino Martinez of Sacramento, California; a number of grandchildren and great granchildren; and many other relatives.
Funeral services were on 20 Oct 1988 at St John the Baptist Church in San Juan Pueblo. Burial followed at La Villita Cemetery. Pallbearers: Johnny Medina, Elmer Medina, Isaac Medina, Kelvin Medina, Jose Medina, and Raymond Medina. Honorary Pallbearers: LeRoy Medina, Kenny Medina, Billy Medina, and her remaining grandchildren.
