Raymond G. Fluckiger, age 82, died Friday morning, September 27, at V. A. Hospital in Iowa City following an extended illness.
Raymond was born July 29, 1914 at rural Monticello. He was the son of John and Laura (Anderson) Fluckiger. He attended the rural Monticello schools. In 1942, he joined the U. S. Army and served in the Rome-Arno Champaign in Italy.
On October 17, 1949 he was untied in marriage with Doreen Lambert at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Monticello. Ray did auctioneering in the Monticello area. In addition to being a member of Sacred Heart he was also a long time member of the VFW, was a member of the Lions Club and served on the Library Board for several years.
He is survived by his wife, Doreen; one daughter, Karen, Mrs. Steve Gorsch of Monticello; one grandson, Steven; three sisters, Rosaline Evans of Cedar Rapids, Lucille Sievers of Anamosa, Mary Bulgren of Anamosa; and one brother, Leonard Fluckiger, Monticello.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John and Paul and one sister, Teresa Walderbach.
