Jabe Mitchell is the son of John Moses Mitchell and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" (Womack) Mitchell, the first wife of John Moses Mitchell.

Jabe Mitchell was the husband of Tommie Irene (Durham) Mitchell. They were married September 05, 1925 in Etowah County, Alabama, and they had five children together by their marriage:

(1)Mary Elizabeth "Betty" Mitchell (02 Oct 1926 AL- 28 Aug 2006 AL), she married Hewlet Neal Randolph.

(2) Frances Louise Mitchell (11 June 1928 AL - 31 Dec 2002 AL), she married first to Mr. Adkins, she married second to Mr. Woodall.

(3) Charles Vann Mitchell (01 March 1931 AL - 21 Jan 2011 AL)

(4) James Harold "Jimmy" Mitchell (18 March 1934 AL - 29 July 1995 AL)

(5) Thomas "Tommy" Earl Mitchell (21 May 1936 AL - 22 Aug 1993 AL).

Jabe Mitchell, 83, Gadsden Rt. 8, died Monday at a local hospital.

Survivors: daughters, Mrs. Betty Randolph, Mrs. Frances Woodall, both of Gadsden, sons; Charles V. Mitchell, Midland, Texas, James Harold Mitchell, Decatur, Ga., Thomas Earl Mitchell, Gadsden. Collier-Butler Funeral Home directing.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Collier-Butler Chapel with the Rev. Jerome Mitchell officiating. Burial in Forrest Cemetery.

Other survivors: sister, Myrtle Shrode, Wetumpka; 17 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; brother-in-law, B. Y. Durham, Gadsden.

Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers: all personal friends.

Mr. Mitchell was a lifelong resident of Etowah County and was a member of Hokes Bluff Methodist Church. He was retired from Republic Steel Corporation with 30 years service.

The body will remain at the funeral home through the hour of service. The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 this evening.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery for Jimmy Mitchell, 61, Gadsden, who died Saturday, July 29, 1995. The Rev. Billy Boatwright will officiate. Morgan Funeral Chapel is in charge.

Mr. Mitchell was a native and lifelong resident of Etowah County. He was a transmission specialist working at different shops and was self-employed.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Earl Mitchell.

He is survived by his wife, Linda Gail Mitchell, Gadsden; daughter, Patricia Morgan, Gadsden; sons, Donny Mitchell and James Mitchell, both of Attalla; Larry Mitchell, Fort Worth, Texas and Ricky Mitchell, San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Frances Woodall and Betty Randolph, both of Gadsden; brother, Charles Mitchell, Attalla; and eight grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be personal friends and family members.

Honorary pallbearer will be special friend, Travis Hutchins.

The family will receive friends from 8 a.m. until the hour of service Tuesday.
