Mr. Rufus "Bud" Bascom Benge, age 77, of Old Hwy 18, Wilkesboro died Friday, May 5, 2012 at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00, Tuesday, May 8, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Burial will be in Scenic Memorial Gardens. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home from 12:30 until 1:30 prior to the service.

Mr. Benge was born in Wilkes Co., on March 11, 1935, to William Harrison Bascom and Bessie Harris Benge. He was a member of Walnut Grove Baptist Church on Hwy 16.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Benge was preceded in death by four sisters, Mary Lou Benge, tilda marion, Ruth Benge (Twin to Rufus), Margie Benge; one half sister, Rosa Vestal; six brothers, James, Claude, Walter, Hillary, Grover "Pete", Bascom "Shorty; two half brothers, Worth Benge and Joe Benge.

Mr. Benge is survived by his wife, Betty Lowe Benge of the home; one daughter, Kim Benge Dula and husband, Randy of Wilkesboro; one step daughter, Rebecca Wagoner Elmore of North Wilkesboro; one son, Steve Benge and wife, Dakota of Wilkesboro; two sisters, Pauline Noah of King and Martha Adams of Jonesville; one brother, Jimmy Benge of Ronda; three grandchildren, Kristy Luther and husband, Mark, Amy Dula and husband, Wayne Edsel, Ashley Benge; four great grandchildren, McKinley Luther, Maci Luther, Madison Luther, Alexis Edsel.
