Rula Christensen of Kanosh, Utah, died April 26, 2012, at the Beehive Home in Richfield, Utah, due to age related conditions. Rula was born August 30, 1919, at Escalante, Utah. She was the daughter of Tillman Woolsey and Alcea Heaps Woolsey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leavitt Christensen, also of Kanosh, Utah. They were married March 30, 1937 at St. George, Utah, and were sealed in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on April 7, 1952.

Rula is survived by her son, Steven L. Christensen, of Kanosh, Utah, and two daughters, both of the Provo, Utah area, Meridene Grant, presently living in mainland China where she teaches English, and Janet Watson (Will), who is currently serving an LDS mission with her husband in Okinawa. Rula is also survived by her sisters Elnora Williams, Rae Smith, Mona Gene Sorenson, and Billy Dean Ellett, Sharon Francisco and brothers,Dewey Woolsey, Donald Woolsey, Milton Woolsey and Warren Woolsey in addition to many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Rula and Leavitt lived in a number of places in Utah including Mayfield and Salt Lake City. They also lived in Olympia, Washington, in Verdun, France, and in Livorno, Italy in connection with his employment. He was then called to be president of the Italian LDS Mission at Rome, Italy, where they lived for several years. After returning home, they lived at Long Beach, California, until his retirement when they came to Kanosh. Subsequently they served LDS temple missions in Switzerland and the Philippines. Leavitt and Rula also have served at the Cove Fort Mission at Cove Fort, Utah.

Funeral services for Rula were held at the Kanosh Ward LDS chapel on Friday, May 4, 2012.
