Kanosh, Utah – Steven Leavitt Christensen, 76, passed away Wednesday, May 13 in his home surrounded by family. He was born November 7, 1938 in Mayfield, Utah to Leavitt and Rula Woolsey Christensen. He married Ella Arlene Christensen in the Salt Lake City Temple on November 11, 1961.
Steven was a great lover of learning, always drawing as much knowledge and experience from his surroundings as possible. He received a Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry from the University of Washington and a Master of Fine Arts from Southern Utah University. He was a detective in the FBI, an owner of a small grocery store and the Meadowlark Cafe, and an employee of Sunrise Engineering.
Growing up in Olympia, WA, he developed a love of boats and spent many happy hours of his life sailing with family. He loved to draw and paint, and his art now graces the walls of his home in Kanosh where he and Ella raised their five daughters, Suzanne Belle, Gabrielle Rae, Caroline Zoe, Cameronne Lark, and Caitlin Quinne. He loved to travel and was never happier than when he was near the water, fishing, boating, swimming, or painting.
He is survived by his wife Ella of Kanosh, Utah; his five daughters, Suzanne Christensen, Gabrielle (Scott) Corry, Caroline (Cameron) Higgins, Cami Peterson, and Caitlin (Micah) Iverson; his 19 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; his sisters, Meridene Grant and Janet (Will) Watson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Leavitt and Rula.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 19 at 11:00 at the Kanosh LDS Ward Building with a viewing from 9:30 until 10:30. Interment will be in the Kanosh Cemetary under the care of Olpin Stevens Funeral Home.
