Mrs. Margaret Amell, 88, one of Tupper Lake's oldest residents, died Saturday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ralph Rocker, in that village after a long illness, Funeral services were held Tuesday at Holy Name church. Burial was in the Holy Name Cemetery. She was born at Rexford, Dec. 25, 1858, the daughter of Pierre and Julienne Dugal Ledoux and was married at the age of 14 to Jerry Amell. The family resided at Standish, Goldsmith and Lyon Mountain before going to Tupper Lake. Mr. Amell died about 30 years ago. Surviving are eight of the thirteen children born to the couple: four daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Emma) Roocker, Mrs. William (Isabel) LaBarge, Mrs. Addle Labarge all of Tupper Lake and Mrs. Daniel (Janie) Charbohneau of Riverview; four sons; John Amell, of Cold River, Charles Amell of Tahawus and Wesley and Leslie Amell of Tupper Lake, Surviving direct descendants total 118, including, besides her eight children, 43 grandchildren, 65 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
