Funeral services for Thomas J. Crowe, of Finzel, were conducted Saturday afternoon in Johnson church, on Route 40, east of Grantsville, with the Rev. V. R. Gillum, pastor, officiating. Interment was in the Johnson Cemetery. Mr. Crowe had been associated with the Johnson church and Sunday school for many years. Special music was rendered at the funeral service by Mrs. Carrie Wagner, Mrs. Velma Baker, Mrs. Arta Cook and Mr. And Mrs. Asa Fresh. Flower bearers, all of whom were granddaughters, were Mabel Crowe, Dolores Crowe, Ruth Crowe, and Hillary Ellfritz. The pallbearers were all grandsons, Raymond, Fred, Carl, William, Hubert and Archie Crowe. Mr. Crowe was a native and life long resident of this county. He was aged 82 years. He died last Wednesday at his home in Finzel after being ill for one week. He was a successful farmer and a member of the Methodist church, having served as superintendent at the Johnson church for more than fifty years. Surviving are his widow, the former Miss May Bolden; four sons, L. Glenn Crowe, Meyersdale; Roy E. Crowe, of Finzel; Lee Crowe, Arlington, Va.; and Denzel Crowe, Frostburg; by a daughter, Mrs. Everett Durst, Frostburg; a brother, Eugene Crowe, of Meyersdale; a sister, Mrs. Calvin Wilson, Frostburg, and by seventeen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
