Daryl served in the Air Force 1968 to 1972 as an aircraft technician in the United States and Germany. After serving in the Air Force, he attended Red Wing Technical College and graduated with a degree in HVAC.
On June 19, 1976, he was united in marriage to Sally Fredrickson of Northfield at the First English Lutheran Church in Cannon Falls. That same year Daryl joined the Northfield School District 659 as a custodian at Greenvale Elementary School serving for 35 years - 33 years as building head. He retired on December 30, 2011.
Daryl is survived by his wife, Sally; sisters, Amelie (Robert) Hyams and Karen (Simon) Pawlowski
