Clara was born in Fauncetown , Pennsylvania, on September 26, 1878, a daughter of Andrew S and Nancy (nee Armstrong) Pettigrew. She was the sister of James B, Andrew S, Ella O, Mary C and Don Carl.
She married Riley Shubble Ames on Nov 15, 1898. They celebrated their 63rd Wedding Anniversary on November 1962. They had six children Clinton, Blanche, Grant, Grace, Genevieve and Hazel. Clara and her husband operated a small store in the community for a number of years. She had 21 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.
Clara was a member of the Maple Hill EUB Church and a active member of the Maple Hill Ladies Aid for many year.
