Obituary from The Salt Lake Tribune (Salt Lake City, UT) - Saturday, October 6, 1934:

OREM - Samuel S. Downs, 61, Orem farmer, died Friday at his home here of heart trouble.

Mr. Downs was born April 24, 1873 in England, a son of Mark and Esther V. Hutt Downs. He came to this county with his parents when 3 months of age. The family settled in Orem and Mr. Downs had resided here practically all his life. He fulfilled an LDS mission in England in 1902 and 1903 and married Ada Forsdyke in the Salt Lake LDS Temple August 2, 1905.

Besides his widow, surviving are two sons and two daughters: Cecil Downs and Mrs. Winnie Olsen, Bingham; Jesse Downs, Lewiston, Idaho; Ada Downs, Orem; six brothers and sisters: Mrs. Dell York, William and Henry Downs, Orem; Albert Downs, Los Angeles, Cal.; James Downs, Pasadena, Cal., and Parley Downs, Midvale.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 12:30 p.m. in the Sharon LDS Chapel. Burial will be in Provo City Cemetery.
