Edward Stalnaker, 61, turnkey at the county jail, died suddenly Monday morning at 6 o'clock when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed into a chair behind a desk in the jail office. Coroner H. E. Klepinger investigated Mr. Stalnaker had been working at the jail, filling a vacancy created by the illness of Charles Burkhardt, regular day turnkey. Born April 25, 1875, in Illinois, he was a son of W. C. and Mary Stalnaker. His wife, Flora Stalnaker, died in 1912. He served as turnkey under C. M. (Mose) Johnston, Joseph Jackson and Arthur Eversole when they were sheriffs. Mr. Stalnaker made his home with a sister, Mrs. George Lucus, 1502 Adams street. Interment in the Johnson cemetery near Stockwell.
