Carl was a tool and die maker and a trouble shooter. Aunt Alice was a great homemaker who tackled almost every task one could think of. She once moved the door to the basement!!! She made a stone fireplace so that she could do her canning out of doors, keeping the heat and mess out of the kitchen. She said she doesn't know how they ever dared to get married during the 'great depression'! She said that Uncle Carl was always an excellent provider
