In the same fall she, with her widowed mother and family moved to Kansas; living with her on the homestead four miles north of Scandia. Those left to mourn her loss are; her husband, James Cardwell of Belleville, Jesse Crawford of Junction City, Kan., Maud Wells of Belleville, Stella Kaplo of Fort Morgan, Colo., Roy Cardwell of Belleville, Dollie Dickerman, Fort Morgan, Colo., Leslie Cardwell of Rexford, Kan., Fay Snyder, Belleville, Kan., a number of grand children and great grand children. One infant preceded her death in 1894.

She was of a family of eleven children, all preceding her in death except one brother and two sisters, Joseph Barrett of Belleville, Mrs. Mary Morris of Salina, and Mrs. Martha Stinson of Seattle, Wash. She united with the Methodist church early in life and remained a faithful believer through life.

She departed this life December 27, 1930 at her home in Belleville at the age of 65 years 10 months and 27 days.

She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, always putting her family first and will be greatly missed by all.

The funeral services were held at the Christian church conducted by the minister, the Rev. P.O. Davis and interment was made in the Prairie Rose cemetery. Her six grandsons acted as pall-bearers.

A precious one from us has gone.
A voice we loved is stilled,
A place is vacant in our home,
Which never can be filled.
God in his wisdom has recalled
The boon his love had given,
And though the body slumbers here,
The soul is safe in Heaven.
