Mrs. Bernadine G. Stone
Mrs. Bernadine G. Stone, 73, 1234 Avenue E, died at 2:17 a.m. today, March 1, in the University of Missouri Medical Center, Columbia. She had been ill since October 1976.
Mrs. Stone was born May 2, 1903, at Niota, Illinois. She was a lifelong resident of the Fort Madison area, and a former employee of the W. A. Shaeffer Pen Company, and the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic church, The Altar and Rosary Society, the auxiliary to the Brotherhood of Railway Trainmen, and the Fort Madison Senior Citizens. She was also a past president of the auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
On May 15, 1923, at Keokuk, Iowa, she was married to Harry E. Stone, who preceded her in death on January 12, 1975.
Surviving are a son, Wayne R. Stone, Morton, Illinois; a daughter, Mrs. John (Linda) Van Stone, Columbia, Missouri; a brother, Joseph Peterman, Donnellson, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Agnes Dinwiddie and Mrs. Jack (Delores) Tieman, both of Fort Madison, and Mrs. James (Verine) Hooten, Chicago, Illinois: and three grandchildren and several nephews and nieces.
Besides her Husband, she was proceded in death by three brothers and three sisters. Her parents were John Peterman, and Anne Boddeker Peterman.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St. Mary's church. The Rev. Omer Kiefer will officiate. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
The body is at the King-Lync Funeral Home where the rosary will be recited at 3 Thursday afternoon by the Alter and Rosary Society and at 7:30 Thursday evening by the parish. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 Thursday morning.
A memorial is being established with the Department Medicine Research Fund at the University of Missouri Medical Center. Contributions may be made at the King-Lynk Funeral Home.
