George K. Christ, 84, formerly of Hamburg, died Friday, May 15, 2009 at 10 p.m. in the home of his son, Arlan R. Christ, of Albany Twp., and with whom he resided.His wife, Lillian K. (Henninger) Christ, died April 14, 2008.
Born in New Smithville, Weisenberg Twp., Lehigh Co., he was the son of the late George J. and Mary (Adams) Christ.
He first worked on the family farm and then worked for the Wenton Shoe Company, Kutztown, for 20 years. He then worked for Frank Fuhrman Painting in Kempton. He last worked in the maintenance department of Kutztown University for 16 years, retiring in 1989.
George was a member of the Lutheran Congregation of New Bethel Church, Albany Twp.
George was preceded in death by a son, Martin P. Christ, who died Aug. 2, 2005.
Surviving are two sons: Arlan R., husband of Patricia A. (Sawyer) Christ, Albany Twp., and with whom he last resided; and Daniel G., husband of Patricia A. (Snyder) Christ, Albany Twp.; and three daughters: Kathleen M. (Christ), wife of Arifeen M. Daneshyar, Greenwich Twp.; Barbara J. (Christ), wife of Elwin Stewart, State College, Centre Co.; and Karen L. (Christ), wife of Daniel Rader, Dallas, Luzerne Co. There is one brother: Harold F. Christ, Maxatawny.
George is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandsons.
