Sara L. Chamberlain Jansen, 82, died Sept. 27, 2010, at Ventura Convalescent Hospital in Ventura, Calif.

Sara was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Williamsburg, to parents Chester and Ada Chamberlain. Her parents moved to Franklin when she was a young girl.

Sara attended Nyack College in Nyack, N.Y., and graduated from St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minn., in 1954.

She married Dr. Thomas David Jansen, a student at Westminster Seminary in Philadelphia in 1954, and soon became a minister's wife when they were called to a church in Tennessee.

She went on to live in Los Angeles, Findley Lake, N.Y., Sydney, Australia, and back to California where she would live until her death.

She was a devoted and loving mother and grandmother.

Sara is survived by her three children, Susanne Osborne of Auburn, Calif., and Thomas Jansen and Wayne Jansen, both of Ventura, Calif.; two grandchildren, Tess Osborne Derkin and Tara Jansen Redondo, both of Los Angeles, Calif., and one great grandchild, Gary Dean Redondo.

She also is survived by two sisters, Shirley Hammerlee of Erie and Audrey Cole of Titusville.

A memorial service will be held for Sara and her sister, Darlene, at 2 p.m. Saturday at Huff Chapel, 312 W. Park St., Franklin, with the Rev. William Hazlett officiating.

Interment will follow in Graham Cemetery
