In 1933 she married H.K. Johnson and they had two children, Kenneth (Marlene) , now living in Hoquiam, and Kay (Denny) Rowley, living in Puyallup. Over the years Juanita's family grew. She is survived not only by her two children, but also seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Juanita and her husband were divorced in 1950 and she was remarried in 1953 to Herb Berglund.
For thirty years Juanita worked at the Aberdeen VFW Club as a waitress, then bar-tender, and eventually as lounge manager. Herb Berglund passed away in 1982 and Juanita has been keeping busy ever since with family affairs and her favorite activity, bowling. She was a rabid hummingbird enthusiast, and always had an on-going competition with one of her relatives about who had the most birds visiting their feeders.
In the year 2002 she looked into a new career as a professional baseball pitcher by throwing out the first pitch at a Seattle Mariners/Baltimore Orioles game in Seattle. She was delighted to meet some of her favorite players, but decided she might have to spend a year or two in the minor leagues if she continued pitching, so dropped the idea.
Over the years, Juanita traveled to many far places, and developed a special liking for Reno, Hong Kong, New Orleans and Hawaii.
At Juanita's request, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. Some of her immediate family will hold a private interment later in the month.
Arrangements are by the Coleman Mortuary, 422 – 5th Street in Hoquiam.
