Served with the US Marines 2nd Division in the South Pacific during World War II. He was stationed at, or saw combat in, several places including: Tulagi, Tarawa Atoll, British Gilbert Islands and Guadalcanal. He was in the Pacific Theater of Operations from October of 1942 until January of 1945, when he was reassigned as a prisoner of war guard for Italian prisoners. He returned to Pana after the war and eventually worked as a chemist for the Pana Oil Refinery. He transferred to Beaumont TX to work for Houston Chemical and then to Corpus Christi, TX with PPG. He retired from PPG in Friendswood TX.
